I’m Mike Kneuer. How are you? I hope you’re great! Thanks for stopping by my website to learn a little more about me. I have been involved in the health and fitness field in a professional capacity for about a decade. But my love for working out and helping others get better started at Indian Hills High School, in Oakland, NJ. I was fortunate enough to be the Captain of a great group of guys on the Varsity Ice Hockey team. I decided that if we were going to do our best we needed to train off the ice just as hard as on the ice and put together workout programs for the guys to do after school. I learned a lot about program design and started to see some muscles on myself.
After high school I attended York College of Pennsylvania and graduated in 3 ½ years Summa Cum Laude. I also served as the Sergeant at Arms for the Sigma Delta Chi Fraternity. During my time in York I also completed the Philadelphia Marathon.
Upon graduation, I moved to South Florida and started working at a “big box” gym. The experience left a lot to be desired and I so started a 4 year tour of corporate America…which also left a lot to be desired. During that time I continued working out and started training in Muay Thai. I’m undefeated (1-0). I also completed my PADI Dive Master training, achieved my Corrective Exercise Specialist certification, Fitness Nutrition Specialist certification and decided to go back to the fitness industry full time.
Two years ago I was in a car accident and had spine surgery. I rehabbed and recovered so well that I was in the best shape of my life a year later and won my pro card in Men’s Natural Physique. I understand how to work with injuries and bad backs to strengthen the body and alleviate pain.
I’m also a certified Nutrition Specialist and to help my friends eat healthy I’ve been posting every meal I’ve eaten for the last 2 years on Instagram @WhatMikeEats to show people how to eat healthy while still enjoying delicious foods and the occasional cheat. (You’ll also see cool pics of my girlfriend Thuy and Cashew)
Most recently, I flew to Scottsdale, AZ to attend the Functional Aging Summit and earn my Functional Aging Specialist certification. The 55+ segment of our society is the fastest growing and most of them are turned off by the experiences of today’s gyms. My goal is to work with these individuals in a comfortable environment to help them retain their independence, play with their grandkids, and look and feel better for longer.
I practice what I preach and I live the lifestyle. There are too many personal trainers out there who are uneducated, overweight, and lazy and it gives the overall industry a bad name sometimes. The typical image someone gets of a personal trainer, at least from the people I surveyed, is a meat head with a clip board counting their reps. They don’t think of the guy who is talking to them about their hormones, their metabolic function, and their contraindications of their supplements with any medications they may be on. That guy is me. I don’t just count your reps and send you packing. I am even more committed and emotionally invested in my clients health then they are sometimes. I take a holistic approach to health and fitness and look at how the body interacts as a whole, not just “let’s get you some muscles”.
I have over a decade of experience working with people from all walks of life with all types of goals succeed and I’d be happy to help you succeed too.
